Executive Committee Activities
The Executive Committee met on June 5, 2012
Attendance: Jim Kalinowski, Vance Archer, Lonnie Houck, Ken Williams (by phone), Rev Posa, Charlotte Hamlin (invitation). The Executive Committee met on the first Tuesday of June.
We discussed the ministerial evaluation. I hope to have a copy of this available for you by the time of the Board meeting.
We will leave the Task Force for Vision and Mission on the action list.
Vance will update the Board on the LRE charge and the Memorial Garden.
We spent some time discussing an allegation of non-covenantal behavior brought to the EC by members of the RE Teachers and the DRE. The minister, at the behest of the EC has attempted to engage the named congregant in discussion. I will ask the Board to enter into discussion on the proper course of action.
We also discussed the issue of paying for the sick leave of the departing DRE. A review of the contract refers to a sick leave policy. A review of the policy is silent on the issue. The administrator indicates that this has not been our practice. I will ask the Board to engage in discussion on the issue.
Some new items for the Board to consider:
Dottie Borei has resigned from the Committee on Leadership Development. As this is my last month as President, I will defer to our incoming President for recommending a candidate for Board approval.

I would like to thank the Board for your hard work and cooperation in my two years as your President. It has been a pleasure to work with you on the issues facing our congregation. My final request to you is to remember that each of us is elected to represent the whole congregation, not a group, a faction, a committee, or any subset of the whole. we were elected to represent the whole congregation. That does not mean we must always agree. But, it does mean that our focus should be on what is best for the congregation.
I will again ask a Board member to serve as an internal Process Observer. I have asked the PO to focus on the following topics for feedback:
The Board Covenant
The Church Covenant
The ByLaws
The Democratic Rules of Order
And Right Relationship
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Kalinowski
