Bio for Our Interim Minister, Reverend Eric Posa:
Rev. Eric Posa was ordained to the Unitarian Universalist ministry in 2005, after completing his seminary education at Texas Christian University's Brite Divinity School. Rev. Posa has served as hospital chaplain, as interim minister, and most recently as settled minister in College Station, Texas. He has now returned to interim ministry as an Accredited Interim Minister-in-Training. His partner, Suzi, will join him in Greensboro; they have no children.____
Reverend Eric Posa sends greetings to the congregation:
Hello to the members and friends of the UU Church of Greensboro. I'm Rev. Eric Posa, and I am pleased to be joining you, starting August 1, for this period of interim ministry. This time in a congregation's life is one filled with numerous transitions, both large and small, and I appreciate this opportunity to walk with you through these changes. As some of you may know, we interim ministers have found a small set of general challenges that most churches face during transitions from one settled ministry to another. These include:
- coming to terms with the church's unique history,
- developing a new sense of congregational identity,
- navigating changes in power and leadership among congregants,
- re-connecting with UUA and Southeast District resources, and
- committing to new directions and new ministerial leadership.
Our work together will focus on addressing these tasks, but will also include exploring the many other aspects of congregational life, both great and tiny, that will more fully help the UU Church of Greensboro live out your mission to create a welcoming and supportive spiritual environment, and live into the covenantal promises to which you hold yourselves.
On a personal note, my spouse Suzi and I are looking forward to our time in your community. North Carolina is a state that Suzi has only visited briefly, and I confess that I, a native Texan, have never before had the opportunity to visit. So we both hope to explore the natural beauty of the region, and the vibrancy and diversity of the city of Greensboro, and the Triad.
I will attend General Assembly in Charlotte, and hope to meet some of you there. Until we do join you in August, I pray for peace and well-being for you all, and many blessings for the work ahead: often exciting, occasionally frustrating, but oh, so rewarding. See you in church!
